Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in strength within the city.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem unsuited, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to head to the remote area in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Seekers and Strategists groups.
Viewers can expect discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
